Inspiring the extraordinary in people through authentic connection and loving accountability
— Kayli Cross, Owner//Juniper Crossing Practice

Individual Therapy

We offer individualized therapy to adults, specializing in the young adult developmental life stage. We take a practical and collaborative approach in walking with our clients through the milestones of self-development, navigating familial/romantic/peer/professional relationships, and building helpful skills such as self-compassion, self-awareness, and self-accountability. Within the therapeutic relationship, we hope to empower our clients towards healthy decision making and self-confidence through meaningful connection and shared positive experiences.

Couples Therapy

Couples therapy is not about finding blame with one partner, but rather about finding what is not helpful in the pattern of interactions. In working with couples, the goal is often to identify how influences from each partner’s family of origin and attachment styles impact the relationship as a whole. Then, we work together to create a new, healthier pattern of interaction by improving communication and attunement.

Specifically, we work with couples who are affected by addictive behaviors, and who are in the process of navigating early recovery. We support couples as they identify codependent dynamics and work to establish boundaries in order to maintain recovery efforts.

Animal-Assisted Therapy

Levi, Kayli’s Lab/Red Lacy mix, is a registered therapy dog who loves to visit with those who step into our office. He is filled with playful energy and especially enjoys showing off his bag of tricks. Just as people have their own strengths and insights, so does Levi. He is compassionate, loyal & fun, and thrives primarily in an outdoor adventure environment, so he is often Kayli’s sidekick on TrailBound Learning trips! Whether in the office or out on the trail — Levi can’t wait to meet you!

Family Therapy

We believe that healthy family involvement in therapy can often be one of the main indicators of successful outcomes. We offer family therapy primarily to teens and their parents & siblings, as well as to adult clients upon request. Therapeutic family work often includes empowerment through education as well as through fostering authentic connections within the whole relational system. The two most important groups of people in a young person’s life are their friends and their family. We believe in intentional conversation and in the power of experiencing change together.

Telemental Health

Along with face to face sessions, we offer sessions via video to both Texas and Colorado residents. Telehealth is an emerging field that makes therapeutic mental health services more readily available - how cool! Currently, we use telehealth with existing clients if there are circumstances that do not allow face to face. We also offer telehealth to incoming clients if we are not based in the same location. If you are interested in this service and would like to learn more, contact us and let’s chat to see if telemental health is a fit for you.

parenting/co-parenting

Parenting/co-parenting & caregiver work happens on a consistent basis, with set goals and a commitment to therapy separate from the teen or even the adult child. If the teen or adult child is doing their own work with their own therapist, collaboration among all parties is possible, if all are consenting and if this is deemed therapeutically beneficial. Possible goals of parenting/co-parenting/caregiver counseling may be: to resolve differences between/among parties in order to parent more effectively (this is NOT meant as a service provided to aid in custody/legal proceedings); to practice more self and/or partner attunement in an effort to be more attuned as a parent or caregiver; to learn and process around parenting strategies and loving boundary setting with the child; to support personal goal setting and growth that directly impacts parenting self-confidence and consistency; to grieve the losses that occur as a parent or caregiver seeking to walk with their child(ren) through the various stages of social/emotional growth and development; to process through and integrate the experience of vicarious trauma.

Supervision

If you are a professional in need of supervision, Kayli Cross, owner of Juniper Crossing, is available to Marriage & Family Therapist Associates in Texas & to Marriage & Family Therapist Candidates in Colorado, as well as to other counselor professionals in TX/CO who desire systemically based mentorship. Her areas of expertise include: addiction recovery, teen/young adult development, providing trauma-informed care, family therapy, and building a private practice.

The rhythm of nature and experiences outside can often serve as a useful medium in helping a person to have a breakthrough in understanding the needs that often underly their behaviors and relational interactions. Kayli, along with other Juniper Crossing contract therapists, utilizes nature-based somatic experiencing as well as walk & talk therapy to aid clients in their own process of change and forward movement.
